The movie 2 Fast 2 Furious is one of my favorites and an all-time classic. There were a few scenes that ignited the senses like the moment Suki launches her pink Honda S2000 into a high-stakes street race, the car screaming through neon streets with fearless confidence. That moment entertained and electrified audiences everywhere. Simply put, it announced the S2000. If you’ve never seen the movie then hear this: Obviously its scripted however, it is my opinion that she held her own pretty well and established that she was a legit driver. Also, when the car has no limiter on it, it’s a solid choice for a street race of that caliber. Japan has made some awesome cars throughout the years.

2001 Honda S2000 Roadster

The Honda S2000 arrived in 1999 for the 2000 model year, engineered as a tribute to Honda’s 50th anniversary. Its name followed the tradition of the S500, S600, and S800. “S2000” represents the 2.0-liter engine at its core. Honda designed it as a modern expression of the lightweight, high-revving roadsters that once defined their identity. Under the hood, the S2000 earned instant respect. Its F20C engine revved to an astonishing 9,000 rpm, pushing the car from 0 to 60 mph in roughly 5.5 to 6.0 seconds and reaching a top speed near 150 mph. With a weight around 2,800 pounds, rear-wheel drive, and a perfectly balanced chassis, the S2000 was engineered to feel alive in your hands. When Honda introduced the AP2 variant in 2004, increasing displacement to 2.2 liters for more torque, they preserved the DNA that made the original so legendary.

2008 Honda S2000 Club Racer Edition

When new, an S2000 cost around $32,000 to $34,000, making it an attainable performance machine. Today, as its cultural importance grows, clean examples often sell for $30,000 to over $50,000, while rare Club Racer editions fetch even more. The highest selling Honda S2000 is a 123-mile 2009 S2000CR (Club Racer) that sold for over $205,000 in April 2022. The record-breaking price was achieved due to the model's extreme rarity (fewer than 700 were made) and its pristine, low-mileage condition.  It has evolved from a modern sports car into a highly respected collectible not for its luxury, but for its purity.

I think that this is one of the cars that stands at the pinnacle of its class. Whether it’s because of the fame and recognition or the performance, this car has an important place in car history. It means something. The goal was to create a true driver's car with a 50/50 weight distribution, front-mid engine, rear-wheel drive, and a high-revving four-cylinder engine, competing in a market with other successful roadsters like the Mazda Miata and Porsche Boxster. The story of the S2000 teaches that greatness is about refinement. It’s about knowing your potential and tuning yourself (like a high-revving engine) to reach levels others think impossible. Success, like speed, belongs to those who dare to push forward with intention. So, push beyond the comfort zone. You rise when you pursue your vision with passion.
