Happy Newsletter Friday!🏎️
Broadly speaking, there are only three paths to making your first million dollars. First, you can work a 9-to-5 job for 30 years, slowly climbing the ladder and possibly earning/negotiating equity if you’re lucky(most jobs/careers don’t offer equity). Second, you can invest in public markets like stocks or real estate, but that often requires a hefty amount of capital upfront, not to mention specific knowledge about assets and investments. Third, you can start your own business, though most of them fail. These are the only three roads. They’re not easy, but they’re real. And for those who walk them successfully, the rewards are unmatched. One of those rewards? The unmistakable purr of a Ferrari California pulling into your driveway.

Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet
The Ferrari California made its debut in 2008, designed not just as another supercar, but as a grand tourer with everyday usability. It wasn’t Ferrari’s first California, though the name is a tribute to the legendary Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder of the late 1950s and early 1960s. That car was created for the American elite, particularly those on the sun-soaked West Coast.

Ferrari California 30
Under the hood, the original California(2008) featured a 4.3-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, front-mid mounted for near-perfect balance. It delivered a 0 to 60 mph time of just 3.6 seconds and topped out at 193 mph. The car weighed in at 3,825 lbs (1,735 kg), heavy by Ferrari standards, but perfect for a GT cruiser. In 2012, Ferrari introduced the California 30 a version that was 30 kg lighter and packed an additional 30 horsepower. Then in 2014 came the California T, featuring a 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that improved performance, fuel efficiency, and everyday drivability.

At launch, the California carried a price tag of approximately $192,000. Today, depending on the model year and condition, you can find one for as low as $85,000 or as high as $120,000. It's an attainable goal for the high achiever, offering a rare balance between performance, heritage, and luxury. Variations like the California T and the optional Handling Speciale (HS) package allowed drivers to choose between a more comfortable ride or a sharper, sportier feel, making it a personalized experience for different lifestyles. Culturally, the Ferrari California was quickly embraced by celebrities and enthusiasts alike. It appeared in shows like Entourage, became a fixture on the streets of Beverly Hills and Monaco, and was praised on Top Gear for its driveability and style. It told the world you’d made it, and you weren’t afraid to enjoy the ride.

The pursuit of wealth isn’t just about material things, it’s about what money unlocks. It’s about freedom. Real freedom. The ability to wake up and choose how you spend your time, where you live, who you work with, and what you work on. You’re no longer bound by bills or bosses, you answer to yourself. The word is sovereignty. Second, there’s family. Money means never watching your loved ones struggle. It means giving your kids options, your parents peace of mind, and if you want, building a legacy that lasts beyond you. And third, it’s the power to say no. Saying no to toxic people, to draining obligations, to anything that doesn’t serve your values. Money simply gives you boundaries with backbone. So, pick your path. Maybe you’re the one grinding the 9-to-5, stacking cash and aiming for equity. That’s your foundation. Or maybe you’ve got your eyes on the markets, turning capital into cash flow. Or you’re building something of your own from scratch, daring to do what most won’t. Whatever route you take, if you commit, stay focused, and put in the work, the reward is waiting. One day soon, you’ll be coasting the streets of your favorite city, top down, engine roaring, in your own Ferrari California, living proof that the dream is real. I’m rooting for you!
