Mercedes‑AMG ONE began as the Project One concept unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show by Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes‑Benz leadership. Its name: ONE, signals the unity of Formula 1 powertrain and road‑legal engineering, bringing the “number one” F1 technology to consumer roads.

Production started in August 2022 with global deliveries beginning in early 2023. Only 275 units were ever commissioned. Mercedes refused to build more. The engine: a 1.6‑liter turbocharged V6 derived from their F1 power unit combined with four electric motors for a total output of about 1,049 hp (or 1,063 PS). Performance: 0–60 mph in approximately 2.9 seconds and a governed top speed of around 219 mph (≈ 352 km/h). Its curb weight is about 1,695 kg (≈ 3,737 lb).

At reveal, the price was set around €2.275 million ($2.46 million). Today, resale values soar. Recent listings in Dubai mention prices of US $4.6–5.4 million, and market benchmarks show average resale at $3.3 million. There were no official roadster or "Black Series" variants; each of the 275 is bespoke in paint and livery but mechanically identical. An exception: some examples feature a special Motorsport Package, an aesthetic upgrade with bold graphics and red highlights on roof scoops.

The AMG ONE is featured as a “hero car” on the cover of Forza Horizon 5, cementing its place in gaming/pop culture . Public figures rumored or confirmed to own one include F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, ex‑F1 drivers like Nico Rosberg and David Coulthard, as well as collector Manny Khoshbin. Soccer star Erling Haaland is also cited as owning one in his multi‑million‑dollar collection.
